Varsity parents who had signed up to bring food for today’s games can just bring it for Monday’s game. The boys can eat before they leave for Jennings County. If you have any questions please call Jan at 502-523-7669.

Double Header Cancelled

Jeffersonville Red Devil’s baseball head coach Derek Ellis just announced the double header scheduled for Saturday, May 4 has been cancelled due to the rain.

Since the teams are travelling from Evansville, and the steady rain we are experiencing, plus the forecast for the remainder of the day, the choice had to be made.

Varsity games on Saturday

We plan on feeding the boys in between games tomorrow in the hitting facility. Listed below are the items that have been assigned.

Sandwiches – Jan

Cookies- Glenda Fertig, Dot Myers, Sandy Smith
Case of water – Damin Smith, Hope Gibson
Mayo, ketchup, mustard – Hope Gibson
Pickles, cheese slices – Beky Burke
Plates, napkins, plasticware – Mark Robb

Red Devils Blank Clarksville

Red Devils blank Clarksville, 18-0

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — The Jeffersonville baseball team scored five times in the second inning, four in the third and seven more in the fourth to beat Clarksville 18-0 in five innings on Tuesday at Clarksville Little League.

Seven different Red Devils had at least two hits and 10 had at least one RBI, as they extended their winning streak to seven games.

For Jeff, Josh Burke went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Trent Astle was 2-for-4 with four runs scored and three knocked in, and Drew Ellis extended his hitting streak to 12 games by going 2-for-4 with a double and three runs.

Also for the Red Devils, Nick Gallagher was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs, Chandler Dale went 2-for-3 with a run knocked in, and Casey Gibson had two hits, scored twice and knocked two in. Teammate Damin Smith had a double and three RBIs, and Jeff’s Nolan Fertig had a pair of RBIs.

Dale picked up the win on the mound for Jeff, which improved to 10-3 with the victory

Some Baseball Milestones

A couple of ‘milestones’….Ellis & Gibson hitting-streaks continue (see below) and…

-Dale, Gibson (& Astle Tuesday) scored 4 runs in a game…ties the school record.
-Dale 3 doubles…only the 6th player to hit 3 or more doubles in a game.
-Astle 4 strike outs…only the 4th player to do that (joining the Wright brothers!).
-18 base hits last night…tied for 3rd most.
-Have outscored opponents 89-10 during current 8-game winning streak.
